Connecticut band The Search wanted to continue with the floral aesthetic I've been using for their materials recently when it came time to do the packaging for their second EP. As I was given a lot of creative freedom, I decided to expand upon the theme and step a little farther "out there" to reflect the band's eclectic style and love of psychedelic imagery.
click here to enlargeThe Search wanted me to design a new poster for them with more explicit details than the last design I did. Here, I went with an illustration that could be slightly modified with ease to reflect future show dates, working within the band's preferred aesthetic, which consists of lively, floral imagery and earth-tone inspired color palettes.

They write sunny, upbeat pop songs about relationships, so I let the tone of their music inform my design. Working with vivid, popping colors, I incorporated the theme that love can "lift your body."
click here to enlargeThe Search asked me to do the CD packaging for their first EP, "Asking For Too Much?" This time, I let the band's name and the title of the album influence the illustrations and overall design. Additionally, I experimented with some new lettering styles and tried to work with a color scheme outside of my comfort zone.

I went with a very literal illustration of the title using floral details and bright copy, plus I tried to convey the look and tone of a steamy summer night.

The band was playing at Hartford's Webster Theater and needed a promotional poster so I put together this illustration for them, trying to capture the dark tone of the music within some more literally-inspired imagery.
click here to enlargeEvery academic year, The Ram, Fordham University's newspaper, publishes a special graduation issue. As a graduating senior and the former layout editor, I was asked to design the cover for the issue. Here I played with both digital illustration and pattern.
click here to enlargeI took a class on the films of Alfred Hitchcock and for the final project we were given a lot of freedom. I decided to do a series of movie posters for the films Lifeboat, Vertigo, Rear Window, and of course, Psycho. My designs focused on the tone of each film and used a bold, illustrative style, combining it with creative typography.
click here to enlargeThe Ram's Focus section covers a different topic in depth each week, and basically functions as the "special features" section. As layout editor of the newspaper, this section was a needed opportunity for me to get creative. This was a fun project to work on as it was one of my first real forays into vector illustration.
click here to enlargeSeveral times per volume, Fordham University's newspaper puts out a literary and art supplement, Forum. As layout editor of The Ram, I designed the cover. For this edition, I went with a minimalistic but fun look.
click here to enlargeThe funny thing about the student artists themed Focus cover is that the drawing wasn't even done on loose leaf as the cover was 11"x17". I added that in afterwards in Photoshop to make it look like a notebook doodle.
click here to enlargeIn my junior year of college, I interned at the New York-based art magazine, zingmagazine. At the end of my internship, they asked me to do a full-page comic for their upcoming issue — asking me to show the magazine's readers zing through the eyes of one of its interns. It was featured in their Fall 2006 issue.
click here to enlargeFor this edition of Forum, I was going for a slim, elegant, and eye-catching look, which I think I achieved here. I went with maroon and white for the palette as those are Fordham's colors, but originally had versions of this in half a dozen different color schemes.
